MORE THAN A STORY

Christmas is probably my favorite time of the year. I love the rush and craziness of it. I know that sounds weird but I guess I like it so much because I realize I am not the only crazy person in the world. My wife and I just finished putting up our decorations. This is a big deal because, since we have been married, we really haven't been able to spend Christmas the way that we would like to, due to us moving to other states. Probably my favorite part about the holidays is the story telling. I always have loved hearing or communicating a good story. My granddad always had the best stories from when he was growing up with really no money to his name, or getting into farming for what little money they did have. It always has fascinated me the differences between generations of people. Not too long ago, I probably would not have been able to write blogs because they really didn't exist back in the day, but now you can't scroll through your newsfeed on Facebook without someone sharing a blog or news article. This part of the year reminds all of us of the greatest story ever told, which is about Jesus. Whether we go to church and hear it, or watch it on Charlie Brown's Christmas show, which is my favorite by the way, or listening to your local radio station. The truth is, we can't ignore the story because it's everywhere we turn. I believe it's more than a story though. Most stories you hear are ones that are soon to be forgotten. But there is just something about, a Holy, Majestic, God, coming to earth and becoming Emmanuel (God with Us). And through his story, he was actually writing all of our stories. I find it as the highest honor that I get to travel and tell this story everywhere that I go. It is truly life changing. So maybe you feel like your story is not significant in anyway, or maybe your story has been overshadowed by someone else's that you try to compare it to. I have good news for you. The Author of your story is just getting started. He is about to write a chapter in your life, that not only will impact you, but also those around you. So enjoy your story because God is just getting warmed up!
Prayer:
God, thank you for writing a beautiful story so long ago when you sent Jesus to us. And through Jesus' story, you were able to write mine. God, I give you full control of the pen and paper, to finish what you started in my life. Help me to appreciate who you made me to be and not settle for trying to be someone I was never meant to be. Amen.
