"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
(John 10:10/NKJV)
I am nearing my 10 year high school reunion (OMG I feel so old), and a popular dance move that still seems to make the highlight reel from time to time is called the "Running Man." I believe the popularity of this dance move is strictly based on the fact that anyone can do it. Basically all you have to do is start to run in place while pumping both of your arms at the same time. Of course through out the years people "spice" things up and add twists and turns to it to make it more modern. I have always enjoyed doing this dance at parties, etc because it really is the only move that i have in my arsenal. It's what i like to call my "go-to" move. But as I examine this, I am eager to see the strange parallel of this move to many Christians in the church today. I have come across a lot of people that just seem to be running in place. No goals, no purpose, just doing it because it seems easy. Often times in my life, I feel like I am just spinning my wheels, or running in place. And when I see that I am not getting anywhere, I am quick to give up on it. As people, we are quick to give up on the project, relationship, or marriage, if we don't see quick results. We are wanting instant gratification so badly that we are willing to sacrifice friends and family at the altar of it. But what if God doesn't want you to live an ordinary life and give up so easliy? What if God wants you to actually live a live that is fully satisfying? As Jesus states in John 10:10, there is a present enemy that comes to rip our joy out from under us and really make us feel like we aren't getting anywhere, but I love that Jesus didn't end the statement with a period but with a comma. Jesus wants you to know today that the your statement, your story, isn't over. Just because you feel like you're not going anywhere doesn't mean God isn't preparing to take you somewhere. Jesus wants you to enjoy life so much, that He wanted to give His up so that you may experience it. No matter how much you try to spice up your season or dance move, still doesn't change the foundation of where it came from. Your season that you are in has a foundation and just because you can't see it, doesn't mean that it is not holding you together. So if you feel like it isn't working, just remember that Jesus hasn't stopped working. I challenge you to open your perspective to realize that Jesus' purpose for your life is far greater than your placement in life.
Prayer : Jesus, I thank you today, that even though I feel like my life is just standing still, doesn't mean you haven't stopped working and moving in my life. I trust You to lead me into a life of promise and purpose. Amen.
